8mm/Super
8mm Film Conversion
Basic
Conversion includes cleaning, repairing, and splicing film
and adding leader where needed. You will receive a title and graphic
introducing the film and a custom-made cover and dvd disc. No editing
of any kind including color and brightness correction, over-exposure
and under-exposure camera flash correction, image stability, menu with
chapter markers, or any of the other features offered in our enhanced
conversion below. You basically get the exact same material as it appears
on your film only in digital, dvd, or analog VHS format.
Enhanced
Conversion is our most popular option. We use a broadcast
industry-standard, non-linear editor (NLE) to make improvements and
enhancements on your film. In addition to the features offered in our
basic package, after conversion your film will undergo the following:
a hands-on, rigorous inspection of each frame of your film to remove
camera flashes caused by over-and-under exposure when filming. (To
our knowledge, no other film conversion vendor offers this critically
important feature at this price!)
transitions between segments (fade-in, fade out, etc.)
color correction to remove gamma saturation common to 8mm home movies.
removal of poorly developed (black) or blank segments of film.
Unlimited, custom-created titling or captions.
DVD custom-made motion menus
DVD chapter markers

We now offer out-of-house
16mm film conversions. Please contact us for details.
A Note: Of course,
the quality of the transfer is dependent upon the quality of the film
you provided. We can improve light & color somewhat, but we cannot
improve poor focus from the original material or restore the heads that
were cut off! Please remember, we didn't shoot the original film. Also,
although we use audio enhancement software to improve the sound quality
on sound films, the microphones and analog tape quality of 8mm films
is less than optimal. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the audio quality
or synchronization to video of sound films. We reserve the right to
refuse film that is severely damaged or in very poor condition.
Hi-8,
Beta I, II, & III, VHS & VHS-C Videotape Transfer to DVD
Wiregrass
Montage offers the absolute lowest price for professional transfer
of your Hi-8, Beta I, II or III videotapes, VHS or VHS-C home movies
to dvd. If all you desire is to directly transfer your videotapes to
dvd, our standard, mirror conversion is the economical solution. We
will transfer your tapes in their entirety and provide you with custom-labeled
dvds and your choice of packaging. We're sorry but we currently do not
transfer Mini DV or Digital 8 videotape to dvd.
The
Process
For VHS tapes and VHS-C
tapes, we use either a JVC SR-TS1U or a JVC SR-S365U professional S-VHS
videocassette recorder, an AV Toolbox AVT-8710 Multi-Standard Time Base
Corrector for stabilization, a Sima SCC-2 pro-color corrector, a SignVideo
DR-1000 Image Enhancer, and a Toshiba RD-XS52 direct-to-hard-drive dvd
recorder resulting in the clearest, brightest videotape transfer available.
Hi-8 transfers are digitally transferred using a Sony EV-C100 VCR connected
through the previously-named hardware components. Sony Beta & compatible
types I, II, and III videotapes are transferred using a Sony SL-HF600
Super Betamax HI-FI VCR. If you want additional editing, titles, or
music added to your films, an enhanced option is also available using
an Avid Liquid 7 non-linear editor software solution.
